Sayidaty and Arrajol, two major publications running under the Saudi Research and Publishing Company, came together with the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority (SMEA) early this week.

The magazines’ Editor-in-Chief Mohammed Fahad Al-Harthi and ‏the Vice Governor of Entrepreneurship Advancement at SMEA Sofana Dahlan signed an agreement in an effort to enhance the entrepreneurship awareness among the youth and women in the Saudi society.

The agreement, corresponding Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aims to increase job opportunities and develop the SME sector, while increasing the productivity of these SMEs and its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product.

Al-Harithi called for the efforts to support young Saudis and empower women to keep up with the Kingdom’s national transformation program. He stressed on the importance of digital media in spreading the culture of entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, Dahlan highlighted the importance of helping women overcome obstacles in the business world. She called for women entrepreneurs to get out of their narrow borders of business practice and think about entering the global market.

“This agreement is a good start especially since Sayidaty is an icon of Arab magazines and our first media partner,” said Dahlan. “Through this agreement, we hope to activate the network of female entrepreneurs across the Kingdom.”

Also present at the meeting was Afnan Al-Babtain, director of female entrepreneurs at SMEA, who pointed out that the agreement is a positive step to support female entrepreneurship.

“This focus comes from the importance of female roles and their empowerment in the business world in various fields across the Kingdom,” said Al-Babtain. “We hope to overcome obstacles by focusing on establishing SMEs by developing and linking them with other projects.”
