A Step-By-Step Guide: Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda Beauty Look

Sophisticated while making a bit of a statement, the make-up look is just what you’re looking for this wedding season.

Using Lake Como’s ancient monuments and breathtaking landscapes as a backdrop, Dolce & Gabbana hosted an exclusive summer 2018 Alta Moda fashion show. Inspired by Lombardy’s historic lakeside area, which incidentally served as the setting for Alessandro Manzoni’s popular novel “The Betrothed,” the collection was simply beautiful. And the make-up that emphasised the Italian models’ beauty was just as noteworthy. Chiara Scelsi and Giulia Maenza looked mesmerising thanks to a healthy glow and highlighted eyes with gold flecks, plus a flick of the Italian duo’s signature eyeliner. The richly coloured lips that echoed the colourful palette of sumptuous dresses topped everything off perfectly.

The Skin

The models’ skin looked luminous while the coverage was light. As well as using The MILLENNIALSKIN On-The- Glow Tinted Moisturizer to help create a fresh and natural finish, the make-up artists used little dabs of Perfect Luminous Concealer to lighten things up where needed and erase any remaining blemishes. Then, they added a natural healthy flush to the face via the soft Creamy Blush in Rosa Carina 30, sweeping it onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears. As a last touch, the magicians used some Creamy Illuminator in Rosa Del Mattino 60 along the cheekbones, the nose and the Cupid’s bow.

The Eyes

When it came to the eye look, the make-up gurus blended a pearly gold rose shade, Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Goldust 20, across the eyelids as a base. They then used the complementary hues of The Eyeshadow Duo in Gold 130 to add shimmer and jewel-like colour. And of course any eye-make at a Dolce & Gabbana spectacle wouldn’t be complete without the brand’s unique feline gaze, so the artists reached out for The Eyeliner in Nero. They blurred it along the bottom and upper lash lines for that ultimate definition.

The make-up specialists then went on to draw a slick line along the top of the upper lash, using Glam Liner in Black Intense 1. Additionally, they added a touch of The Eyeliner in Gold 3 to the inner corners of the eye and along the black eyeliner line to create a precious gold hint.

For some extra volume on the lashes, the beauty experts applied Passioneyes Mascara in Nero 1, layered up on the outer corners of the lashes. They created the sculpted eyebrows by shaping and filling the arches with The Brow Liner in a shade matching the models’ hair colour.

The Lips

The make-up artists used a palette of various lush colours, whether warm nudes, delicate pinks, vivacious reds or deep plums, on the models’ lips to go with the pieces they wore. The interplay of a matte texture, using Dolce Matte Lipstick, and a creamy finish one, thanks to Classic Cream Lipstick, was magic.
